Commercial Marketer

Job Purpose: To grow our commercial department by assisting our sales team in placement of risk, providing coverage recommendations and reinforcing relationships with our insurer partners.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Train and coach team members in area of responsibility
  2. Plan and manage renewals and new business, prioritizing based on renewal date and account executive needs
  3. Maintain and develop existing and new insurer partners through regular meetings,
  4. Use customer and prospect contact activities tools and systems (TAM), and update relevant information held in these systems.
  5. Plan/carry out/support sales incentives and new business goals
  6. Monitor and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information to team of responsibility at regular commercial lines huddles.
  7. Record, analyze, report and administer policies according to systems and requirements.
  8. Record, analyze, report and administer coaching to the commercial team through collaboration with the sales lead
  9. Communicate, liaise, and negotiate internally and externally using appropriate methods to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships.
  10. Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills, and to maintain a superior level of industry knowledge and required licensing hours.
  11. Impart knowledge to our team and communicate suggestions on improvements to management
  12. Adhere to corporate policies as assigned by management
  13. As our company grows, assist with integration of new offices and new staff including training, culture reinforcement and social team building activities as required
  14. Other duties as assigned by management
  15. As the company continues to grow, assist with hiring and leading a commercial marketing team as needed

  1. Satisfactory levels of peer review surveys
  2. Cultivating a knowledgeable, growing commercial team
  3. Operating as a leader of the company overall
  4. High team new business production results
  5. Increased income and profit levels in the commercial lines department


  • Minimum 5 years commercial lines experience
  • Insurance license with CAIB designation preferred
  • Flexibility and a positive team player with effective communication skills
  • Ability to coach and educate teammates
  • Working knowledge of TAM an asset
  • Ability to work alone and with a team
